As for now, I've heard you can only migrate your name, some titles and some items to the from GW to GW2 through the Hall Of Monuments for those who have GW:EN only.
I wasn't going to buy GW:EN but I think I just might have to now :/
I think it really sucks that I won't be able to migrate things like money and good weapons ...
anyway, what do you think? what are you going to do?

That would be like bringing a knife to a Gunfight.
The GW acccount will still be there and so will (hopefully) everything in the inventory if and when I feel like going back.

I will leave it all behind as I will be ready for a new world and a new story and adventure and new ways to GRIND. <grin> What you'll be able to use/take from HOM I think will be like buying a CE or Special edition. You'll get some weapon, any titles will be useless and merely for cosmetics of what you did in GW origional and that's about it. They can't give that much of a head start to those that have already played GW, but, some is ok. A max damage weapon with an attribute of 9 isn't going to do anyone much good until they get to those 9 attributes anyways. Like my new dervisher and the bonus scythe that came in the preview pak for Gwen it's nice but requires 9 scythe. +15 w/enchanted and +20% longer enchantments cold damage. It's not the best, but, it's nice and the skin is really nice as well. People ewww and awww when they see it. <grin>
Leaving old GW behind won't bother me a bit. It's old now and there's nothing left to do but grind and farm for vanity items. I've done every quest and every mission and finished all the chapters an expansion now. Running around farming for $$'s isn't my idea of fun after I've done it a 1000 times and got everything I want out of the games equipment. So I look foward to the change that is coming. Can hardly wait. <grin>

Transfers between GW1 and GW2 will not have a "direct effect" as many assume I believe. By this I mean you won't be able to have your 15^50 20/20 +30 Fellblade be transfered to your level 1 warrior in GW2...
Personally I think titles (either individually or based off of KOABD rank) will reward players with things such as skills, perhaps a few beginner items, some perm bonuses (different emotes?)
All in all, just like how you could play without pre-order weps in GW, you'll be able to do the same in GW2.

You get to keep your name and get a few special(read cosmetic) unlocks. Nothing is actually transferred over and nothing is lost on your GW1 account, which makes this entire thread moot.
Besides, GW1 isn't closing and you aren't paying a monthly fee anyway. I really don't get all this I'm gonna quit GW1 for GW2 crap.

I dont understand why some people want to bring all their stuff over from GW1. The best times for me during GW was figuring everything out the first place, now that I have everything Im bored.
Starting fresh FTW

I will keep my main in GW1 for at least 6 months before transfering the monument. I wanne know the mechanics of GW2 and playtest with all the classes and whatnot to see what class/race fits me most. Mostly to make the right choice with what character I will play coming years and to avoid making a new character after 2 years.
Maybe I need to do something I haven't done yet in GW1 to get something in GW2, so I'll take it easy the first 6 months, enjoy the new stuff.

When GW2 comes out, I'm waiting two months after it does to see what people react and say about it. Once I know what exactly it is, I'll continue playing GW1 reaching what I consider to be fair enough for all my characters and then decide if it is that time to move on.
I could care less about GW2 right now.

i dunno if I will play the next game but I think it's great you can't take over your cash as i really don't want the richest people in this game to be the richest there aswell as it would ruin the game as there's still alot of cash from duped ambraces.

I'll still continue playing GW1 as long as it intrests me, regardless of GW2's status. Granted, if GW2 is any good my departure from GW1 will probably be sooner rather than later.
And otherwise I'm not filling up my HoM that much; mostly just 15k armors that I want anyway. Probably the biggest deal will be an R3 survivor title that I'm currently grinding for my Monk.

I'll first go through GW2 with a test character with a class and race that would feel most comfortable to me and most like GW.
When I'm done getting used to the game, I'll start playing seriously with my real characters that will simply be reincarnations of previous characters.
GW1 will hold very little interest to me, and I will only be concerned with it by how I can transfer things from GW1 to GW2.

Move onto Guild Wars 2. Use monuments, and ect to start up a new Sylvari Ele with the same name, no looking back from there.
When is GW 2 estimated to come out again, is it 2 years from now?

Assuming i can afford a new computer by the time it comes out I might get gw2. Because well the computer I have now can barly play gw1. If i did get a new computer when it comes out I would wait a few weeks to see what its like. Considering my computer sucks I might stick to gw1 for a bit assuming I don't get bored of it and quit by the time gw2 comes out.

Agreed a fresh start with a fresh game is a good idea. Getting to transfer everything over might not be the smartest move with a new system so yeah. Just rather have a clean slate.. whatever they're transfering over is by far enough.

My thoughts exactly. GW2 is going to be an entirely different game from GW, I'm going to treat it as such and not dive in out of loyalty to the series, but wait and see what kind of game it really is.
Besides, isn't it still supposed to be 2 years out? not to mention there hasn't been any official mention of it in what 5-6 months?

Well even if GW2 is a major block buster I'll still play GW1 I'm sure... It's just who I am, I don't outgrow games that I like I just take a vacation from them. Hell I still play games like Freedom Fighters and Homeworld because they're both awesome despite their age, and the same will go for GW most likely.

QFT. After GW2 comes out, I will still play GW1 also, just think of what a waste of a couple of years that would be if you just quit GW1 altogether.

Vigil has a 40K MMO in the works. BioWare has an unknown (but likely Star Wars or Forgotten Realms) MMO in the works.

if Anet cant make a separate skill set for pve and pvp i dont expect to move on to GW2. with the game changes over the last year or so and the constant ignoring of suggestions by the GW community i cant see how GW2 wont be more of the same GW1 just dressed up a bit different.

I just had a thought:
Will more people play GW1 if GW2 does well just for the Hall of Monuments?
